Leimet Oy wants to renew its monitoring system in good time – Protacon’s solution helps them
Protacon supplied a ProMES material monitoring system to metal industry operator Leimet Oy. Leimet uses the system for monitoring materials in the production process all the way from raw material receipt to storage, to production and intermediate storage, to end product storage and finally, to dispatching and loading. The use of an automated system reduces manual work steps and thus inaccuracies in records, materials and material qualities.
“Our old system needed updating and we decided to make a sufficient investment in material monitoring in one fell swoop. With this system, we can meet both our own needs and the regulatory requirements. Protacon’s solution for material monitoring helps us to monitor material qualities. In addition, it facilitates the specification of materials used in each product”, says production manager Henri Lindell from Leimet Oy.
“Protacon convinced us with their professional skills and knowhow already at the tender phase. Their references were also convincing and one could see that they had carefully completed their “homework” well before the first meeting. We have been more than pleased with our cooperation so far”, adds Lindell.
Benefits are noticeable in the manufacturing industry, too
Operating in the metal industry, Leimet Oy is a family business based in Rauma, Finland, manufacturing high-class concrete components. Leimet’s manufacturing lines are highly robotised. With automated monitoring, products will be automatically provided with appropriate labels and delivery lists. All this reduces the risk of human errors and remarkably improves the transparency and traceability of production.
“The number of raw material suppliers increases all the time. With a monitoring system, we can quickly verify the quality of materials supplied. It saves time particularly in problem situations. Problems can be quickly detected and addressed immediately”, Lindell says.
ProMES has been traditionally used in enterprise resource planning in the paper industry and printing houses, for example, but it also suits very well for the management of various goods flows and warehouses. In addition to the manufacturing industry, ProMES fits extremely well to various warehouse applications of supply chains. Protacon has made more than a hundred ProMES system deliveries internationally.
ProMES is designed for demanding 24/7 processes that require easy usability and maintenance. Thanks to its low purchase price, ProMES also functions as a link between the ERP system and the process avoiding in this way many manual work steps.
